This guide is only for the Xiaomi Mi 4 android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. 1. BACKUP YOUR ANDROID DATA

2. ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE

Now you need to enable USB debugging mode. Without enabling USB debugging mode on your device you can’t start the root, Custom ROM or Unlock process.

3. CHARGE YOU ANDROID

If your device switched off during this process, it could damage or brick the device. Make sure that your Android battery is full charge or near about 50-70% battery level.

Step 1. Visit the Mi4 official page here and Download the Official Developer ROM for your device and rename the file to update.zip.

Step 2. Now connect your phone to the PC with USB cable and move the update zip file to the phone SD card.

Step 3. Now open the updater app on your device and press the Menu button – Select installation file/Select Update package.

Step 4. Now search the update zip that you copied on the step 2 and hit the install button to start the flashing process.

Step 5. After updating is completed, select Reboot now to enter the new system.

Step 6. Now developer ROM is installed on your phone. To get the root access, open the security app from the home screen and click on the Permission icon.

Step 7. From this screen enable the enable the “Root Permission” option to get the root access on your MI3.
