Root OnePlus 2, Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP recovery
How to Root Oneplus 2 and Install TWRP recovery? This one is the first question in every new Oneplus 2 users mind. NOTE:- Do take the full backup of your phone, before following this tutorial on your phone.
Root Oneplus 2, Unlock Bootloader & Install TWRP
Step 1. First setup the USB drivers and Fastboot file on your windows PC. Click here.
Step 2. Enable USB Debugging mode on your phone. Go to Settings > About phone, and then tap ‘Build number’ 7 times or until you get the message ‘You’re now a developer!’. Go back to Settings, choose ‘Developer options’. Find the ‘USB debugging’ option and use this toggle button to enable it. Accept warning by tapping on the OK button.
Step 3. Also in the ‘Developer options’. Find the ‘OEM Unlocking’ option and use its toggle button to enable it.
Step 4. Now first you have to unlock the bootloader of your phone. In step 1 when you install the driver on your PC. It also created the ADB folder on your C Drive. Open it on your desktop.
Step 5. Connect your OnePlus 2 to PC now. And ALoow the USB debugging mode.
Step 6. Boot your OnePlus Two into Fastboot mode. See this how to do that.
Step 7. Now go to the ADB folder that you open in Step 4. Left click on empty white space inside the folder. Hold the shift key, right click on empty white space to get a pop-up as shown below. Choose Open command window here option from that.
Step 8. Now run this command on the window:-
fastboot oem unlock
You’ll see a new screen on your device. Choose Yes using Volume button specified and then use Power button to confirm it. That’s it. The device will reboot automatically.
Step 9. To install Recovery and root the phone. Download the below mention files.
OnePlus 2 TWRP Recovery | File: Recovery TWRP.img (25.3 MB)
Step 10. Now do these things:-
> Enable USB debugging from developer options once again.
> Transfer the root package file (SuperSU) to OnePlus 2 internal memory.
> On PC, rename the TWRP file to this name: op2-twrp.img and place the img file in the ADB folder.
Step 11. Boot your OnePlus 2 into bootloader mode. See Step 6.
Step 12. Connect your OnePlus 2 — in bootloader mode — to PC. Let the driver install.
Step 13. Now go to the ADB folder that you open in Step 4. Left click on empty white space inside the folder. Hold the shift key, right click on empty white space to get a pop-up as shown below. Choose Open command window here option from that.
Step 14. Flash TWRP recovery on your OnePlus 2 by running the following command.
fastboot flash recovery op2-twrp.img
Step 15. Boot TWRP recovery on your OnePlus 2 now. It is recommended that you do this manually by unplugging the USB cable and then pressing POWER + VOL down until the device boots. When the Oneplus logo shows up, release the POWER and keep holding down VOL DOWN until TWRP boots.
Step 16. To Root OnePlus 2 > tap on Install menu, and then browse and select your SuperSU > Swipe to confirm the flash.
Once Done > Wipe Dalvik & Cache > Reboot System To Restart
