CHECK PHONE MODEL
This guide is only for the Moto X Pure (2015) android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. So, first confirm your phone model number in your android phone settings. To do this Go the Settings page of your device and check out the “About Device” option.
PRE-REQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS
Before following the below Mention guide, It’s always recommended to follow our pre-requisites and requirement to stay safe.
1. BACKUP YOUR ANDROID DATA
Do take the Full Backup of your Android Apps, SMS, Contacts, Call Logs, Bookmarks. This one is one of the most important step that you have to follow, as we don’t want anyone losing their personal data or apps. For help on Backup and Restore check out the below mention guides.
2. INSTALL MOTO DRIVERS
First you need to Setup ADB and Fastboot Drivers on windows PC. This will help you to sendbasic linux commands, and a variety Android specific commands from PC to connected Android devices.
Now you need to install the USB drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide. Without these USB drivers you can’t connect your device to the PC, first download and install these drivers on your system.
3. ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE
Now you need to enable USB debugging mode. Without enabling USB debugging mode on your device you can’t start the root, Custom ROM or Unlock process.
4. CHARGE YOUR ANDROID
If your device switched off during this process, it could damage or brick the device. Make sure that your Android battery is full charge or near about 50-70% battery level.

HOW TO ROOT Moto X Pure (2015) and INSTALL TWRP
Step 1. First you have to unlock the bootloader of your phone, Visit this Motorola Official page and follwo the instruction to unlock the bootloader of Moto X Pure (2015).
Step 2. Download the Moto X Pure TWRP recovery here and rename the file as motoxp-twrp.img.
Step 3. Download SuperSU v2.46 zip file here and place the zip file on your phone’s internal memory.
Step 4. Now open the ADB folder on your C:/ Drive (C:/ADB). You will see this folder only if you installed the ADB files from the above mention Moto Drivers “SETUP ADB & FASTBOOT DRIVERS ON PC”.
Step 5. Now move the motoxp-twrp.img file in the ADB folder.
Step 6. Open that folder and then left-click on empty white space in the folder. Now, while holding the shift key, right click on empty white space to get a pop-up. Now choose Open command window here option from that.
Step 7. Connect your phone to the PC with USB Cable and boot in Fastboot mode. To do so, Turn off your phone, press and hold volume down and the power button for 5-6 seconds.
You will see the bootloader screen.
Step 8. Now Flash Moto X Pure TWRP recovery. Use the following command for that.
fastboot flash recovery motoxp-twrp.img
Step 9. TWRP recovery will now be installed on your Moto X Pure 2015. Now boot your phone in TWRP recovery mode to root your device. You can do this by pressing and holding volume down and power keys.
Step 10. Now get the root access on you phone, Tap on Install button from recovery main menu, and then browse and select the SuperSU file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip). Then on next screen, do the Swipe action at the bottom to flash the root package.
Now you will have root access on your Moto X Pure 2015 and a custom recovery.
