This guide is only for the Moto G4 Plus android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. PRE-REQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS TO ROOT MOTO G4 PLUS

1. BACKUP YOUR ANDROID DATA

SETUP ADB & FASTBOOT DRIVERS ON PC
Now you need to install the USB drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide. Without these USB drivers you can’t connect your device to the PC, first download and install these drivers on your system.
3. ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE
Now you need to enable USB debugging mode. Without enabling USB debugging mode on your device you can’t start the root, Custom ROM or Unlock process.
4. CHARGE YOUR ANDROID
If your device switched off during this process, it could damage or brick the device. Make sure that your Android battery is full charge or near about 50-70% battery level.

ROOT MOTO G4 PLUS and INSTALL TWRP RECOVERY
Step 1. As we mention above to get started first you have to unlock the bootloader of the phone. Read the guide here to unlock bootloader on Moto G4 Plus
Step 2. Download the TWRP recovery from here and rename the recovery file MotoG4.img
Step 3. Now paste the MotoG4.img file in your ADB folder that you created in SETUP ADB & FASTBOOT DRIVERS ON PC Step.
Step 4. Connect your device to your computer over USB, And open the command prompt windows in the ADB folder. Do this by holding the shift key on your keyboard and right-click on a space and select “Open command window here” option to launch a command prompt window.
Step 5. Start the device in fastboot mode with the following command
adb reboot bootloader
Step 6. Now enter the following command to flash the recovery on your phone.
fastboot flash recovery MotoG4.img
Step 7. Once TWRP is successfully flashed on your device, issue the following command to reboot:
Step 8. Once your phone rebooted. Download the SuperSU zip file from here and save on your phone internal memory.
Step 9. Now boot your Phone in TWRP recovery mode. Power off the device. Now press Volume Down + Power‘ button to boot in recovery mode.
Step 10. Once you are in recovery mode. Select the Install Option and Browse for the SuperSU Zip file that you saved in your phone on Step 8.
Step 11. Swipe to install SuperSu and now the flashing process will start on your phone.
Step 12. Once completed, go back to the main screen of recovery and Reebort your system.
Now your Moto G4 Plus is rooted and TWRP recovery in installed.
