Pre-requisites and Requirements

adb reboot bootloader

Step 2. Now your Nexus 7 is in Bootloader mode, now type the command in the same terminal window fastboot oem unlock

Step 3. Now you will see the Unlock booloader screen on your Nexus 7 Tabblet, from here use volume up to highlight Yes then hit the power button to select it.

Step 4. Now you nexus 7 will reboot and you will see the unlock button on your screen.

How to Install TWRP recovery on Nexus 7 (2013)

Step 1. Download TWRP recovery 2.6.0.0 recovery from here and save the files on your desktop

Step 2. From the Desktop change the recovery file name to recovery-twrp.img

Step 3. Now copy that file and move the same on your Fastboot folder C:\Fastboot

Step 4. Run the command prompt window on your desktop, to do this click on Windows Start menu button and type cmd and hit enter.

Step 5. In command prompt window type cd C:\fastboot

Step 6. Boot up your Nexus 7 2013 into Bootloader Mode. To do this press and hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power button until Fastboot menu and Start appeared.

Step 7. Press Volume Up button again and again fro some times until Recovery Mode appears on the screen. Press Power button to confirm.

Step 8. Now Connect your Nexus 7 tablet to your computer.

Step 9. Type fastboot flash recovery recovery-twrp.img command in the opened command prompt windows and hit enter.

Step 10. This will install the TWRP recovery on your Nexus 7, wait for few minutes to complete the process.

Now the TWRP recovery is installed on your device and you are ready to root your nexus 7.

How to Root Nexus 7 (2013) Tablet in Android 4.3

Step 1. Download SuperSU package from here on your desktop and move the file on your Nexus 7.

Step 2. Switch off you tablet and Boot up your Nexus 7 2013 into Bootloader Mode. To do this press and hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power button until Fastboot menu and Start appeared.

Step 3. Press Volume Up button again and again fro some times until Recovery Mode appears on the screen. Press Power button to confirm.

Step 4. Now you are on The TWRP recovery page, from here Click on the “Install” button and browse the SuperSU package that you downloaded on step 1. And install the file on your device.

Step 5. Use Swipe to confirm flash button to flash the zip.

Step 6. After flashing the file you will see the successful message on your screen, now Press Reboot System.

That’s it, now you nexus 7 is rooted and TWRP recovery is installed on your device.
