Quickest Guide to Root OnePlus One and Install TWRP recovery

OnePlus One is the latest android smartphone in the market and powered by CyanogenMod11S based on Android 4.4 KitKat, comes with an unlocked bootloader. If you recently bought the OnePlus One device and looking for the easiest way to root your phone and install recovery. Here is the complete tutorial which you can follow on your device and get the root access. To get the roots access on your OnePlus One first you have to unlock the bootloader, second install TWRP recovery and root the device with Supersu zip file.

This guide is only for the OnePlus One android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. So, first confirm your phone model number in your android phone settings. To do this Go the Settings page of your device and check out the “About Device” option.


Before following the below Mention guide, It’s always recommended to follow our pre-requisites and requirement to stay safe.


Do take the Full Backup of your Android Apps, SMS, Contacts, Call Logs, Bookmarks. This one is one of the most important step that you have to follow, as we don’t want anyone losing their personal data or apps. For help on Backup and Restore check out the below mention guides.


You need these drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide. Without these USB drivers you can’t connect your device to the PC, first download and install these drivers on your system.


Now you need to enable USB debugging mode. Without enabling USB debugging mode on your device you can’t start the root, Custom ROM or Unlock process.



If your device switched off during this process, it could damage or brick the device. Make sure that your Android battery is full charge or near about 50-70% battery level.

After following the above mention steps follow the below mention guide one by one to proceed with the tutorial. All the above mention steps are very important, so do follow all the steps and do exactly what is told.



Step 1. First download the Android ADB files here and extract the folder on your desktop.

Step 2. Download the latest official TWRP recovery image file for OnePlus One. File name: openrecovery-twrp- Rename the File to TWRP.img and save it.

Step 3. Now move the renamed img file TWRP.img and move it to the ADB folder that you downloaded on step 1.

Step 4. Download the SuperSU flashable root file. File name: UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r3.zip and Move UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r3.zip to the OnePlus One.

Step 5. Connect your phone to PC via the USB cable.

Step 6. Open the Android folder. Right click on the blank space and select the option open command window here. See the screenshot below:-


Step 7. In the command window type the following command to boot your phone into bootloader mode:

adb reboot bootloader

Step 8. Now your phone reboots into bootloader mode, type this command to flash the twrp recovery:

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

Step 9. When TWRP is installed, type this command to reboot your phone:

fastboot reboot

Step 10. Now to boot your phone into TWRP recovery mode, type this command:

adb reboot recovery

Step 11. Now for the TWRP recovery options, tap on INSTALL. And select UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r3.zip file to flash.

Step 12. When completed, from the main menu select the option REBOOT to reboot your phone.

Now you phone will reboot and you will see the Supersu fiule on your device and your phone is rooted.
