CHECK PHONE MODEL
This guide is only for the Mi 3 and Mi 4 android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. So, first confirm your phone model number in your android phone settings. To do this Go the Settings page of your device and check out the “About Device” option.
PRE-REQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS

1. BACKUP YOUR ANDROID DATA

2. INSTALL XIAOMI DRIVERS
First you need to Setup ADB and Fastboot Drivers on windows PC. This will help you to sendbasic linux commands, and a variety Android specific commands from PC to connected Android devices.
Now you need to install the USB drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide. Without these USB drivers you can’t connect your device to the PC, first download and install these drivers on your system.
3. ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE

4. CHARGE YOUR ANDROID

INSTAL CM12.1 ON MI 3 & Mi 4
Step 1. Your phone should have a custom recovery installed onto your device
Step 3. You need a Gapps Package also to use the Google apps on your phone. GAPPS for Android Lollipop can be downloaded from this link.(Select the package for CM 12.1)
Step 4. Connect your Xiaomi Mi4 and mi3 to your computer using the USB cable. Now transfer the above two files to the internal storage on your device.
Step 5. Now boot into recovery mode. To do this tun off you phone and Press Volume Up + Power to start the phone in recover mode.
Step 6. In recovery, tap on the ‘wipe data factory reset’ option to perform a factory reset.
Step 7. After this tap on the advanced options and wipe the cache, dalvik cache, data and system partitions as well.
Step 8. Now tap on ‘install zip from sd card’ option and choose the CM12.1 ROM ZIP file that you transferred to the internal storage of your Xiaomi Mi4 and Mi3. Flash the file to install the ROM on your device.
Step 9. Once the ROM has been flashed successfully, flash the GAPPS package as well.
Step 10. After this reboot your phone.
