c) Make sure that your Nexus 5 battery is full charge or near about 60-70% battery level.
d) Download the Latest Nexus 5 drivers on your PC and install it to start the update process. You need these drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide.

Root Nexus 5 and Install CWM Recovery
Step 1. First Unlock the bootloader of your phone, Read our guide here how to Unlock Nexus 5 Bootloader
Step 3. Download SuperSU v1.80 (UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip) for Nexus 5.
Step 4. Connect you phone to the PC with USB cable and move the SuperSU v1.80 zip file on your SD card.
Step 5. Download CWM 220.127.116.11.1 and save it to your AndroidADB folder (Read the Step 2 Guide to Create AndroidADB folder) directory on your computer.
Step 6. Turn off you phone and boot it in Bootloader mode. To do this Press Volume Down + Power keys for a few seconds till you see some text on the screen. This is Bootloader Mode.
Step 7. Now go to AndroidADB directory on your PC and open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt).
Step 8. Run this command on the Command prompt window:-
Type in the following command and press Enter.
fastboot flash recovery hammerhead-cwm-18.104.22.168.1-unofficial.img
Step 9. Now the CWM recovery is installed on your phone. Once completed, choose RECOVERY from the Fastboot menu and enter Recovery Mode.
Step 10. Now your phone is on ClockworkMod recovery, scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the power button to select it.
Step 11. Use volume keys, navigate to UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip and select it using the Power button.
Step 12. Once the installation is finished on your phone, go back to the recovery main menu and select the “reboot system now” from the Recovery menu.
Now your Nexus will reboot and the first boot will take some time. Once the device is on, you will see the SuperSU app in your apps. Now you device is rooted and CWM recovery is installed.
