How to install Android 5.1.1 on Nexus 6, 5, and 4

Recently Google has released Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 9. If you are the Nexus 6, 5, and 4 user, you can also update your device with Android 5.1.1. CHECK PHONE MODEL

This guide is only for the Nexus android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. So, first confirm your phone model number in your android phone settings. To do this Go the Settings page of your device and check out the “About Device” option.

PRE-REQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS

1. BACKUP YOUR ANDROID DATA

2. INSTALL NEXUS DRIVERS

You need these drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide. Without these USB drivers you can’t connect your device to the PC, first download and install these drivers on your system.

3. ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE

Now you need to enable USB debugging mode. Without enabling USB debugging mode on your device you can’t start the root, Custom ROM or Unlock process.

4. CHARGE YOU ANDROID

If your device switched off during this process, it could damage or brick the device. Make sure that your Android battery is full charge or near about 50-70% battery level.

UPDATE NEXUS 5, 6, & 4 WITH ANDROID 5.1.1

Step 1. To get started all you need an Unlock bootloader device with Custom recovery.

Step 2. Download Chroma ROM file from the below mention links:

Nexus 6, Nexus 5 or, Nexus 4

Step 3. Download Gapps package form here

Step 4.Now Connect your Nexus device to your PC with a USB cable.

Step 5. Move all downloaded files to the internal storage of the Nexus device.

Step 6. Disconnect your Nexus 6 from the PC to start the installation process.

Step 7. Turn it off and boot into recovery mode, For this press ad hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons together.

Step 8. Wipe the Dalvik Cache on your device and Perform a factory Reset.

Step 9. Return to the main recovery menu and select install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card.

Step 10. Flash the ROM and then install the GAPPS.

Step 11. After this, reboot your system from the recovery.

You now have Nexus 6, 5 and 4 Android 5.1.1 update installed.
