Pre-requisites and Requirements

b) Once the backup files are saved on your device or on your desktop, Enable USB debugging mode on your device, read the guide here how to enable USB debugging mode.

c) Make sure that your Galaxy S4 battery is full charge or near about 60-70% battery level.

d) Download the Latest Samsung USB drivers on your PC and install it to start the update  process. You need these drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide.

Step 1. Download the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 I9505XXUEMI8 firmware on your desktop and extract the folder.

Step 2. Once the firmware is saved on your desktop, download the ODIN application on your desktop and extract the folder.

Step 3. Both the important files are on your desktop. Turn off your device and boot it into download mode, to do this Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons. Press Volume Up button again to enter into Download Mode.

Step 4. Now connect your phone to the computer with USB cable and run the ODIN application on your desktop.

Step 5. Now you should see the blue sign in Odin screen, that means your phone is connected successfully and ready to update.

Step 6. Once the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT i9505 is connected with the ODIN application, do the following: (Do this very carefully otherwise you brick your device)

Select these files from the extracted firmware package(Step 1);

a- Select the PDA checkbox, and click the ‘.tar.md5? file
b- Tap the Phone checkbox, and select the file named ‘modem’ (ignore if such file is not found)
c- Choose the CSC checkbox, and click the file named ‘CSC’ (ignore if there is no such file)
d- Click the PIT checkbox, and choose the ‘.pit’ file (ignore if the file is missing)

[Note: Ignore the last three steps (b, c and d) if such files are not found.]

Next, ensure that the check boxes “Auto Reboot”, “F. Reset Time” and “PDA” are the only check boxes checked and the rest are not. And Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked on the ODIN application.

Step 7. Once all the above mention steps are don on the ODIN app, click on the start button to start the update process.

Step 8. Now the update process will take some time to finish, Once the process is finished you will see the PASS message on your ODIN app screen. At this time you can remove your device from the computer.
