Guide to Root Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.3 and Remove KNOX apps

Today in this guide we will show you how to root N7100XXUEMJ5 Android 4.3 Firmware on Galaxy Note II. N7100XXUEMJ5 is the latest leaked firmware for the Galaxy Note 2 model, which comes with lots of features and improvements. In case you have updated your Note 2 to Android 4.3 Jelly bean leaked firmware and looking for the way to root your device to install custom roms and Tweaks on your phone, then you are at the right place, today in this guide we will show you how to Root Note 2, Remove New Bootloader and remove KNOW apps. This guide is only for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 International variant, model no. GT-N7100. Don’t try this method on other variants of the Galaxy Note 2: GT-N7102, GT-N7105 GT-N7108 etc. Before following the guide confirm your device mode number in ‘About device’ option under Settings.

Root Note 2


Pre-requisites and Requirements

a) Before following the guide do take the Full Backup of your Android Apps, SMS, Contacts, Call Logs, Bookmarks. Looking for more ways to get the Backup your android device click here. b) Once the backup files are saved on your device or on your desktop, Enable USB debugging mode on your device, read the guide here how to enable USB debugging mode.

c) Make sure that your Galaxy Note II battery is full charge or near about 60-70% battery level.

d) Download the Latest Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 USB drivers on your PC and install it to start the update  process. You need these drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide.

After following the above mention steps follow the below mention guide one by one to root Galaxy Note II. All the above mention steps are very important, so do follow all the steps and do exactly what is told.

Instructions to Flashing KNOX Disabled Bootloader

Step 1. Download MJ5BLPatch.tar.md5 file on your desktop an extract the folder. You need this file to Disable KNOX Bootloader.

Step 2. Download the ODIN flash tool application from here and extract the folder on your desktop.

Step 3. Download the WiFi Fix here and extract or unzipped the folder on your desktop. You need to flash this file after Disabling the KNOX Bootloader. Because once the bootloader is disabled, it will break the WiFI. To fix the Wifi flash the Wifi Fix File on your device.

Step 4. Now turn of your phone and reboot it into Download mode. To do this Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons.

Step 5. Now connect your Phone to the computer with USB cable and run the ODIN application on your desktop.

Step 6. Now Load the MJ5BLPatch.tar.md5 file (extracted in Step 1) in Odin as instructed below:

Step 7. Click the Start button to begin flashing KNOX-disabled bootloader on your International Galaxy Note 2 GT-n7100. The process will take some time, once the process is finished on your phone you will see the “PASS” messages on your ODIN app screen. AT this time your phone will restart automatically. You can then disconnect your phone from PC.

You have successfully flashed the KNOX-disabled bootloader on your Note 2. You won’t have wifi working. To fix the Wifi issues follow the next steps.

Step 8. Again turn off you phone and boot the device in download mode (See Step 4).

Step 9. Open the ODIN application again and connect your phone to the computer with USB cable. (See Step 5)

Step 10. Click on AP and select patch.tar.md5 which we extracted in Step 3.

Step 11. Click on Start button to begin flashing WiFi fix on your International Galaxy Note 2.

Once the process is finished, Reboot device and you will have old Knox free bootloader with Wifi working.

Now, let’s root the Galaxy Note 2

Root Note 2 on Android 4.3

Step 1. You will need Clockworkmod recovery (CWM) installed to be able to root your Note 2 using the method below. If you don’t have this, install the CWM RECOVERY FROM HERE.

Step 2. Download MultiTool Advanced V5 on you desktop.

Step 3. Now Copy the file on your Note 2 Internal sd-card using USB cable.

Step 4. Turn of your phone and Boot your Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 into Recovery Mode. To do this Press and hold these 3 buttons together: Volume Up + Power + Home.

Step 5. Now you will the Custom Recovery option on your screen. From here select Install zip from sd-card and select file and select Yes.

Step 6. Now you will see the MultiTool Advanced V5 Main Menu on your phone screen.


Step 7. Click on the Proceed with MultiTool to continue, now you will see the index 2 page on your screen with lots of details like root, busy box etc.


Step 8. Select Next and you will see the Root Inject screen.


Step 9. From here select Root device and click Next. Now a new screen will appear on your screen Busybox Inject.


Step 10. Select, Inject BusyBox to device and click on Next to continue. After this you will see lots of other option on your screen. Make sure that you choose Do Not Change in all of the next upcoming screens after Inject Root and Inject BusyBox.

Step 11. Once the process is finished, Go back to the Custom Recovery main menu and Reboot your device by selecting Reboot System Now.

Step 12. Now you phone will reboot, next step is very important, read it carefully.

Step 13.
Once you phone is on, Don’t open SuperSU app or any other application on your device.

Step 14. Now open Google Play Store app on your phone and search and update the SuperSU app.

That’s it. Your Note 2 has been rooted and you will enjoy the rooted apps and tweaks on your device.
