Steps to Install a Custom ROM on Galaxy S4
Step 1. Download the Custom ROM and Google Apps package on your desktop (Use Google Apps package only if you installing an AOSP, CM or AOKP based custom ROM. You need not flash Google Apps package on stock TouchWiz based ROMs). After that copy both the Files on your SD card of your device.
Step 2. Now turn off your device, after that boot up your device in to recovery mode. To do this, press and hold Volume Up+Home+Power buttons simultaneously till the screen turns up and you see Samsung Galaxy S IV logo blink for 2 times. Step 3. N ow first thing you have to do is take the backup of your phone’s current ROM. To do this select “Backup and Restore” from recovery and backup the ROM to external storage of your Galaxy S4.
Step 4. After that go back to the main menu of Recovery and wipe some files and cache on your device. Do these step from the recovery “wipe data/factory reset” “wipe cache partition” and then go to Advanced> “wipe dalvik cache” and “wipe battery stats” Mounts and storage> “format system”.
Step 5. Again go back to the main menu of recovery and select the “Install Zip from SD card” after that choose zip from sdcard” and select the ROM. First install the ROM and after that Google Apps package with the same way you install the ROM.
Step 6. After installing the ROM and Google Apps, go back to Main menu and then go to “advanced” and “wipe dalvik cache” again. Now in the end select “reboot system now” from the main menu.
